On the You Tube website type in the search engine “Graham Hancock on How the Pyramids Were Built”. There are so many videos on the subject that you will have a broad selection to watch. I recommend the second one with the length of 4:49 duration. The others will only add to this basic question posed. View this one and then read my blog below for some surprising insight.

In the video he brings up more than once that a chapter in the human experience is missing. I agree and I think I have the answer, or at least a stunning hypothesis. I believe, unlike modern scientists, that there was indeed a global flood just like the Bible portrays in Genesis chapters 6 & 7. In Genesis chapter 5 we see that people in the antediluvian age lived to be several hundred years old. There we see that mankind lived over nine hundred years; just shy of a 1,000 years. Imagine living the length of time that it would take an oak tree to reach 100 years old, ten times. That’s a long time to live on the earth compared to our measly three score and ten, or seventy years, that we are averaging now. (see Psalms 90:10)

Imagine living for nearly a thousand years, and imagine further accumulating so much knowledge that you would be a living, breathing repository of incredible intelligence; nothing would be unsolvable; no secret would go unanswered or unrevealed; you could accomplish anything you set your mind to. What you could imagine, you could achieve. Well, the prospects are unlimited if you ponder the vast amount of knowledge that men would accumulate in their very long lifetime, combined with knowledge gained from previous generations. With that little tidbit of conjecture, let’s look at what the Holy scripture says about men in those days. Genesis chapter 5 tells us of the long life that was the norm in those days. However, even though they lived several hundred years, one thing they all had in common is that they died. I call Genesis chapter 5 the “he died” chapter. Death was inevitable, just as it is today. Take a minute and read these verses, Genesis chapter 5:6-32. This genealogical flow begins with Seth, the third son of Adam, and ends with Noah, the one who lived in the days of the flood. Here goes: Genesis 5: 6-32, (KJV) “¶ And Seth lived an hundred and five years, and begat Enos: And Seth lived after he begat Enos eight hundred and seven years, and begat sons and daughters: And all the days of Seth were nine hundred and twelve years: and he died. And Enos lived ninety years, and begat Cainan: And Enos lived after he begat Cainan eight hundred and fifteen years, and begat sons and daughters: And all the days of Enos were nine hundred and five years: and he died. And Cainan lived seventy years, and begat Mahalaleel: And Cainan lived after he begat Mahalaleel eight hundred and forty years, and begat sons and daughters: And all the days of Cainan were nine hundred and ten years: and he died. And Mahalaleel lived sixty and five years, and begat Jared: And Mahalaleel lived after he begat Jared eight hundred and thirty years, and begat sons and daughters: And all the days of Mahalaleel were eight hundred ninety and five years: and he died. And Jared lived an hundred sixty and two years, and he begat Enoch: And Jared lived after he begat Enoch eight hundred years, and begat sons and daughters: And all the days of Jared were nine hundred sixty and two years: and he died.

¶ And Enoch lived sixty and five years, and begat Methuselah: And Enoch walked with God after he begat Methuselah three hundred years, and begat sons and daughters: And all the days of Enoch were three hundred sixty and five years: And Enoch walked with God: and he was not; for God took him.

¶ And Methuselah lived an hundred eighty and seven years, and begat Lamech: And Methuselah lived after he begat Lamech seven hundred eighty and two years, and begat sons and daughters: And all the days of Methuselah were nine hundred sixty and nine years: and he died.

¶ And Lamech lived an hundred eighty and two years, and begat a son: And he called his name Noah, saying, This same shall comfort us concerning our work and toil of our hands, because of the ground which the LORD hath cursed. And Lamech lived after he begat Noah five hundred ninety and five years, and begat sons and daughters: And all the days of Lamech were seven hundred seventy and seven years: and he died. And Noah was five hundred years old: and Noah begat Shem, Ham, and Japheth.”

Now, here in Genesis chapter 6 is where it gets interesting and says some remarkable things that relate to humankind that lived before the Great Global Flood of Noah’s day. We begin reading in Genesis chapter 6 at verse 1. Genesis 6:1-2 “¶ And it came to pass, when men began to multiply on the face of the earth, and daughters were born unto them, That the sons of God saw the daughters of men that they were fair; and they took them wives of all which they chose.” Elsewhere in scripture the term, “sons of God” refers to angelic beings (Job 38:7), so in this text when it says that “the sons of God saw the daughters of men”, I believe that fallen angels had sexual relations with human females, and now look what the scripture says about the offspring of these unions. Genesis 6: 4-5 “¶ There were giants in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare children to them, the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown. And GOD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.” Imagine that; every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually! How depraved corrupt mankind had become. Super intelligence also brought super evil. Remember that these long living, super intelligent people were also members of Adam’s fallen race. They were great in many ways, but sin contaminated their way. Imagine for a moment what this earth would have been like today if sin had never entered into the equation.

EVERY IMAGINATION of the THOUGHTS OF HIS HEART was…ONLYEVILCONTINUALLY! How utterly depraved was the wicked heart of mankind. The Bible says in Genesis 6:6 “And it repented the LORD that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart.” That means that God was grieved that He had even created Adam’s race. His heart was truly and utterly broken and irreconcilable. Now He must destroy His beautiful creation that he had proclaimed as “very good” at the creation.

Now, about here is where the reader is either saying, “Jim, you’ve lost it” or “Wow Jim, I believe you’re on to something here”. Either way, you must admit, it is not along the lines of the modern scientific hypothesis. Modern scientists believe that the comparatively small Colorado River cut all those great, deep and immense caverns of the Grand Canyon during thousands or millions of years! Hooey! Anyone who is not prejudiced by modern science can look at that giant chasm in the earth and readily see that it is really not only possible, but extremely likely that the great flood waters made these tremendous gouges in the earth’s crust when all that immense expanse of unbelievable turbulent waters drained off the face of the earth after the flood. But I digress.

So, consider that back in those long days of life on earth, men could, indeed, invent some fantastic mechanisms that they used to create these great feats of building and artistic sculpture that we cannot even begin to fathom today, let alone duplicate. Archeologists will tell you that it would really tax our modern tools and techniques to try to duplicate some of the things they did with stone. It is not only the pyramids and temples of ancient Egypt, but all over the world in places like the ancient stone formations of Peru and the Nazca lines and geoglyphs of ancient Peru and other sites around the world. But the flood washed away all the evidences and tools of those days. God did not only wash away all those evil men of that day, but He also did away with all their inventions that they used from who knows where! I highly recommend the book entitled “The Flood” by Alfred M. Rehwinkel. This great work will answer many questions and lay out the truly understandable evidences of the worldwide flood. When the Bible says “there were giants in the earth in those days” it may not mean physical giants, but it may refer to mental giants or cultural giants in the earth in those days. It leaves a lot to the imagination of interpretation of each of us. We know that there are many unexplained things, like the mysteries of the buildings of the Great Pyramid, but without the Biblical help, mankind is without any explanation. Most likely they turn to such idiocy as extraterrestrials or such, which is pure foolishness. Our problem is that we have a difficult time believing that things could be or have been very different from what we know now, and that things will someday be much different from what they are now. We are mental kindergartners, not mental giants. We can’t even imagine the things that ancient men could accomplish, especially if that mystical element of “fallen angelic beings” is tied into the recipe of ponderings. These thoughts are too high for us. They are more than we can comprehend, but they are not more than is possible.

Personally, I do not believe we are increasing in knowledge, I believe we are much less intelligent that our ancestors; Graham Hancock’s findings clearly indicate that. We only live much shorter lives now and we cannot comprehend the possibilities of ages past. We scoff at the idea of a global flood; we laugh at the report of giants in the land in those days. But we must admit, there must be some explanation for all the mysteries of ancient structures and sculptures and consider that they may be products of the antediluvian age. What was the earth like before the flood? What were the mental abilities of men before the flood? What did they invent and accomplish that has been lost to us? Modern scientists would have you believe that we evolved from apes and finally came out of the caves and out of the trees and discovered fire and crude tools and slowly evolved into what we are today. How foolish is the secular mind that pursues ideas contrary to the Holy Bible! Humanity is not getting better; we are getting worse. Remember the image in King Nebuchadnezzar’s dream? Its head was of gold and it went down to its feet made of iron and clay mingled. Imagine that; from gold to clay. What a digression of humanity. On this I rest my case and defer to the Word of Almighty God, who is over all, Amen!
