We in America do not have a democratic form of government; we have a republic. A republic is a society that is based on the rule of law. Pure and simple, it means that every man should be accountable to all other men through the system of laws that govern our whole society. Our whole system is based on the observance of the laws of the land. But the time has come in our national history that men are not obeying the laws of the land. As a matter of fact, many today are ignoring all laws and doing what they want to do, regardless of what the laws of the republic say.
The last verse in the book of Judges says it best, “…every man did that which was right in his own eyes” (Judges 21:25). That is where we are today friend; every man is doing what they think is right regardless of what the law says. You can readily see that when men begin to disobey the law and do what they deem right, means that their norm, their morality, their value system is what they are going to live by and not the laws of the land. They are changing the value system of our land. That is a sad thing for any society to digress to such a low. America is in trouble folks.
I’m sure you have noticed how that we have an almost overnight and alarming amount of police and law enforcement shootings and killings. Why, in the news yesterday the lead story was about a man who charged into the police headquarters and began shooting at police, and he had been in prison in the past for doing the same thing. Wicked men walk right up to a police car and execute the police sitting in their patrol car. That is the depravity to which our society has plunged; it is so sad to see that in America today. Police are being assassinated almost every day. It is so apparent that violent men think it is the police who are the enemy in society. And, it is primarily the liberal media that is portraying the police as the bad guys in our society. That is the whole breakdown, the crumbling from within of our beloved nation.
There are a couple of verses in Isaiah that pretty much sum up where we are today in America. They are taken from Isaiah 5:20-21 “Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter! Woe unto them that are wise in their own eyes, and prudent in their own sight”! No truer words were ever prophesied about modern America. We are there folks, and it is only going to get worse as time goes by. What is the answer? What should we do about it? I think it is never too late to turn back to our foundational roots and stop trying to make America fit us instead of us fitting into America. I know this is not a perfect nation, but it is the best nation on the face of the earth. The whole world is trying to come to America. We take our freedom and liberty for granted; it is all we’ve ever known, and we cheapen it with our hate for the flag and all things American. Our US Constitution is the secular document that guides us, but the Holy Bible is the Word of God that should guide our values and morales. Lest we forget. jh
