I Know My Rights!

America is all up in the air about the death of yet another black man who died while he was under arrest by police officers. Another similar case was of another black man who was arrested for selling individual cigarettes on the streets to make some money. I believe he was charged with selling non-taxed tobacco products in opposition of the Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms Laws of the country. In that case several officers took hold of an obese black man and wrestled him down to the ground to handcuff him and secure the arrest. In the melee, the obese black man kept saying, “I can’t breathe, I can’t breathe”. He died in custody to the loud objections of most of the black populace in America. I believe that case resulted in rioting, looting and the burning of private property in the community, and indeed spread to several communities in America.

Letter to A Friend, Burial or Cremation

Dear Friend,

I don’t think it is healthy to dwell on the decaying of the body after death.  It is a fact of life, but it doesn’t thwart the LORD’s plans for our total Salvation.  Here’s what I mean by that. We are a three-part person, created in the image of God, our Creator.  God is a Triune person and we are also triune beings.  Listen closely to the order of this.  We are a spirit; we have a soul and we live in a body.  So, Spirit, Soul, and Body is the composition of our being as created.  I believe that when God saves us, he saves us completely.  Another point to make is that many people get the soul and the spirit mixed up.  But here is the easiest way to look at the difference in these two parts of our makeup.  Our spirit is that part of man that communes with God; that part that can relate and understand God.  After all, we are spirit beings, not physical beings.  This body is just the earthly house that our spirit and soul lives in.  Now back to the spirit and soul.

Our Troubled Republic

We in America do not have a democratic form of government; we have a republic. A republic is a society that is based on the rule of law. Pure and simple, it means that every man should be accountable to all other men through the system of laws that govern our whole society. Our whole system is based on the observance of the laws of the land. But the time has come in our national history that men are not obeying the laws of the land. As a matter of fact, many today are ignoring all laws and doing what they want to do, regardless of what the laws of the republic say.

Coming Boldly

This morning after my morning prayer, I was thinking, or rather meditating, about the scripture in Hebrews 4:16 that says, “Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.” The more I pondered those words, the more I began to visualize myself as a little boy running and jumping into the arms of my Daddy. I knew that he loved me and that he would catch me and hug me when I landed in his big, loving arms. I loved my Daddy and I still think of him often.

Are Mass Shootings Due to Mental Illness?

In recent years there has been a strong push by the left and liberals to do away with firearms of all kinds. Their ultimate goal is a gun-free society. Their thinking is that if there are no guns then there will be no gun violence. One of the recent Democratic Presidential candidates, Beto O’Rourke, was a proponent of a gun buy-back program. Of course, most Americans reject this draconian thinking as too far left and un-American; certainly, un-Constitutional. O’Rourke even said the government would go from door to door confiscating firearms. He lost support immediately upon that statement.

Hollywood’s Invasion on Morality in America

Since the early days of the cinema, there has been a constant watch on the film industry’s encroachment and destruction of the Moral Fiber of American culture.  America has been from the beginning, a Christian nation.  Regardless of former President Barrack Obama’s insistence that “America is no longer a Christian Nation”.  That statement struck me more as wishful thinking on his part but the truth is, there are still many Americans who regard themselves as ‘sanctified’.  They are on constant watch for blatant violations of the ‘good of the nation’ statements and/or scenes in movies and videos.

Do Jesus And Paul Agree?

I read a book once that was entitled, “Do Jesus And Paul Agree”. The author tried to synchronize the four gospels with Paul’s writings and tried to put many round pegs into square holes. Unfortunately, that is happening in many Churches today, and unfortunately from modern pulpits. Many preachers are still trying to balance the Biblical account of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John with Paul’s epistles. It cannot be done because of one very basic and big difference; they are speaking to two different peoples. Jesus and the Twelve are teaching and preaching to the Jews while Paul is teaching and preaching to the Gentiles. In my opinion the author of that book failed miserably in his mission of synchronizing their writings because he missed that very basic fact.

What Does The Bible Say…or Not?

It is very important to know what the Bible says, but it is of equal importance to note what the Bible does not say. How much of what you believe comes from The Word of God, and how much comes from Church Covenant and Church Tradition?  Tradition was one of the downfalls of the Jews.  They put more emphasis on tradition of men than what “Thus Saith The LORD”.
